Hackney Supported Accommodation:

We have two hostels for young people in Hackney, both in Cadogan Terrace. The first caters for young women

Youth Services

between 18-25 who are homeless but do not need a high level of support. The second hostel is permanently staffed and houses 16-17 year old young men and women from Hackney and neighbouring boroughs, who are leaving care or need short-stay accommodation due to family relationship breakdown.

During their stay, which can be up to 18 months, residents at both hostels are allocated a support worker helped to prepare for independent living and are assisted with resettlement. The young residents have to be involved in education, employment or training whilst at the hostels.

There are also a number of shared houses for single homeless people aged 16-25. Staff meet with residents in these properties to assess their housing and support needs on a regular basis and to set goals which are reviewed through formal action plans.

Youthlink Service

Youth Link assists young people who have been offered permanent accommodation through a Local Authority or another housing association.  The Youth Link team offers floating support services to young people aged between 16-25 on various aspects of living independently, including:

  • Tenancy
  • Sustenance
  • Education, training and employment
  • Health
  • Developing life skills
  • Referrals to other specialist agencies

The team works mainly with young people in Islington and Hackney.
