St Martins have been providing services to people with mental health propblems for over 20 years. Our services are tailored to each individual client's mental health need. It may be a person who is referred to our Mental Health Teams just needs a little help and advice to regain their confidence and sense of identity, whereas another person's mental illness is affecting his or her ability to earn and live independently.
The variety of services offered range from the provision of accommodation and support, to outreach floating support to people living in their own homes. Key working is around emotional and practical issues of living independently, including housing management skills, participating in community and leisure activities in addition to gaining access to employment, education and training opportunities.
Our client groups are as diverse as the services we offer. Those who benefit are:
- Ex-offenders on an accredited programme with London Probation, living in St Martins' supported housing.
- People referred to St Martins by community mental health teams in Hackney, Islington and Newham.
- People coming out of institutions
Support workers visit clients at their homes at least once a week if not more, to regularly assess progress and identify needs or problems. Eventually, with the help of their support workers, clients become ready for move-on into permanent accommodation and prepared to re-enter the labour market.
